May 31, 1014

Yesterday was a long long travel day from Crescent City to Everett, Washington. We booked a stay at the Maple Grove RV "Resort". First they bait and switched our quote from $127.00 for three days to $150.00. The "gentleman" at the desk was extremely rude. The site he gave us (the last one available) has a two foot slope. It is impossible to level. After an hour and a half we gave up. We decided to go to Seattle today and leave for 100 Mile House tomorrow.

Seattle is pretty cool. We of course went up the Space Needle and spent hours on the piers. Lunch was awesome at Athenian Seafood Restaurant & Bar.

May 29, 2014

Yesterday was a travel day up to Redwoods RV Resort just north of Crescent City. We decided to take the longer route up I-5 so that we could see Mount Shasta and Lake Shasta. Even though we are from Colorado and have seen mountains for over 30 years there, Mount Shasta is pretty cool. I think it is because we are seeing it from around 3000 feet. It appears to be taller than the mountains in Colorado even though I know it is not.

Today, May 29, 2014 we went south on US 101 and hiked the Damnation Trail. It is only around a 5 mile round trip, but you hike down over 1000 feet to the ocean. And of course we had to hike the 1000 feet back up to the Jeep.

After the hike we went down to the Klamath River Overlook. We were told there may be Gray Whales. After picnicking on the point, a pod of whales showed up. We must have snapped 40 or more pictures and could not get them above water. Chris did get them on a video but it is too big to load up on this application.

For our last day with Brian and Caitlyn, we went into San Francisco. The highlights were definitely The Golden Gate Bridge, China Town, and Fisherman's Wharf.

May 26, 2014

Brian and Caitlyn took us on a Napa Valley tour. We had lunch at Yountville and then toured a couple of Wineries.

The highlight was Robert Mondavi.

May 25, 2014

Today we had the opportunity to tour one of the C-17's our son works on. When you see the plane from afar it looks like any commercial airliner painted with military colors.

Not even close...the plane is massive. Inside the cargo area you could actually have two floors. We were limited to only a few photos as you can imagine.

Muir Woods. We took a drive to the coast to see Muir Woods and the Coast Line.

It was quite a long drive due to Holiday traffic, but it was worth it. The walk around the forest was beautiful.

May 23, 2014

We went to the airplane museum at Travis AFB with Brian and Caitlyn. Then we went to the Jelly Belly factory and went on the tour.

May 21, 2014

Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate again. This time fog (or clouds). We ended up cutting the day short and spent some time in camp.

Next leg of our trip will be visiting with our son and daughter in law Brian & Caitlyn.

May 19 & 20 2014

May 19th was a travel day. The trip from the Grand Canyon to Sequoia was exhausting. The wind was absolutely horrible adding 2 hours to the trip.

May 20th we got up and packed up for a day in the Sequoia National Park. Unfortunately, we had rain and snow. That did not slow us down to see as much as we could. Hopefully a few of these pictures put some perspective on the massive trees and some of the other sights.
