Alaska 2018

We have spent quite a bit of time planning our 2018 bi-annual Alaska trip. This one is expected to be quite a bit longer than the previous trips. (See 2014 and 2016 Posts).

We were planning on departing April 30th, but our daughter Heather really wanted to have her May 1st birthday here in Florida. She wants to go out to dinner at the Nauti Mermaid at Tarpon Point. So we moved the departure a couple of days. Our current plan is to depart May 2nd 2018.

The major parts of the itinerary is as follows:

One week at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon at the Grand Canyon Railway RV Park. Arrival May 8th.

Departing Grand Canyon on May 15th, we will travel north through Edmonton up to Dawson Creek.

We will then (depending on rain) head up the Top of the World Highway through Dawson City and then down to Tok, Alaska.

Then three weeks in Wasilla Big Bear RV Park starting June 7. (We may take three of those days and head up to Denali)

Three weeks in Homer, Bay Crest (now a KOA) and the Heritage RV Park on the Spit

Two weeks in Seward, Stoney Creek RV Park

And finally two weeks in Valdez. Eagles Rest RV Park

Our return at this point is unplanned.

Our goal is to be back in Southwest Florida Mid to Late September.

The Land Yacht "Miss N Mountains" washed, waxed and nearly packed.

This should be one our best trips yet. We are excited to see new places, new adventures, and make new friends.

April 20th

So we decided to take one last boat trip down to Key West prior to our May 2nd departure to Alaska for the summer.

We have been down to Key West dozens of times over the last 14 years. We seem to always have a good time. We spent a few days at the Fort Zachary Taylor Beach, road our bikes around the entire island, toured some old sites, and took the dingy out to sunset key.

We booked 6 nights at A&B Marina. Due to a front that moved through we ended up staying an additional 3 nights. There were 8 foot seas in the Gulf we would have had to endure if we departed on Sunday the 15th.

What a great place. We met some really good new friends we plan on meeting this fall after Alaska.

 Marilyn Monroe is still alive!

Anyone that has spent time down here knows about Robert. "Robert did it". The weird thing is he is in a glass box over at Fort Mortello. How did he get in that window?

 Chris is stoned.

The president came down here the day after we left Thursday. On Tuesday before then, his security detail must of done a dry run.

On the back of our boat Miss N Mountains Chris and Puppy Mallory now 8 Months.

This guy tied his boat here Saturday night before the storm came in. This is what happens when you put your stern to the wind.
