Well, we have been running pretty strong over the last several days. We left Cedar City, spent a night in Provo UT, then a night in Dillon, MT. When we left early morning from Dillon, we expected a long but easy run up to Shelby MT. We cruised through Butte and headed up I15. It was very foggy. After about 15 miles there was a small flashing sign that said highway closed use alternative route. We kept going until we were almost to Boulder when Chris got a hold of the town pump in Boulder. They told us the previous night a sink hole formed destroying both north bound lanes and one of the southbound lanes.
We turned around and headed back to Butte. We pulled into a flying j to find an alternative route. The guys recommended US12 to Helena. Oh boy that route was tough. 8% grades for six miles. After over a 100 mile detour we made it to Shelby.
From Shelby we had another long day to Edmonton. We spent two nights chilling (actually cooking because the temperatures are in the 80’s).
From Edmonton we had a fairly easy day to Dawson Creek. We will spend two days here then start heading north again. The last two times we were heading north in May it snowed in Dawson Creek. It is currently 85* and tons of mosquitoes.
We are still having trouble with reservations. Our plan was to spend two nights at Liard Hot Springs, but again a caravan is coming in so we could only get one night.
I will start posting some more pictures in the next day or so.
