July 14, 2018

It has been 10 days since my last confession... oh I mean update to the blogspot.

On the 6th we took the Discovery over to Seldovia for a day trip. I am really glad we did this trip as we got to become friends with a couple also staying at Baycrest (Glenn and Diane). Otherwise, there is not a lot to do in Seldovia.

On the 9th, we moved down to the Spit at Heritage RV Park. Our site (Number 5) has got to be the best site in their park. We have views of the Bay and are looking out the windshield at the Fishing Hole.

That leads to what we have done since we moved down here.... Fish, Fish, and then Fish some more. We have been Salmon Fishing at least once a day a few hours before high tide, and Halibut Fishing on the 12th.

I will say, I believe that the Halibut grounds have been over fished. We did get our two fish limit, two under 28 inches (as required), and the other two around 30 inches. There was nothing big out there at all even though we spent most of our time out near the Barren Islands.

On July 13th at 10:54AM, we had a 4.4 earthquake. I guess it was around 18 miles southeast of Seldovia. We thought someone crashed into our motorhome. Wow! Sure glad we did not have a tsunami.

As of today, we have 4 nice salmon (3 Silver and one King), and of course our 4 Halibut. I will say I think the weight of the Salmon exceeds the Halibut so far, but I did not weigh them to verify this.

We plan on fishing for 4 more days before moving on to Seward.
